This program will randomly place objects in any type of DOOM wad, patch wad
or IWAD.
This file has subdirectories be sure you have used the -d option on
pkunzip to recover all subdirectories. If you haven't then rerun pkunzip
using the -d option if you want to be able to run this program.
You must copy all files in the DOOM1 subdirectory to your DOOM1 directory
and you must copy all files in the DOOM2 subdirectory to your DOOM2
directory. All files in the current directory must be copied to both the
DOOM1 and DOOM2 directories.
Steps:
1. copy all files in this directory to both your DOOM I and DOOM II
directories.
2. Copy all files in the DOOM I subdirectory to your DOOM I directory.
3. Copy all files in the DOOM II subdirectory to your DOOM II directory.
4. To quickly use the program run the MAKEALL1.BAT for DOOM1 or MAKEALL2.BAT
for DOOM2, this will produce 5 new DOOM levels using the existing DOOM
Main Wad or A.K.A. "IWAD".
If you have patch wads and want the object place to place new object into
them you must edit the batch files. Read the batch file or the text file
BATCH.TXT on how to do this.
I hope you enjoy this program, there are other random object placing
DOOM utilities out there such as RANDOOM. Unlike the Doom object placers I
have seen so far, mine is the first to start from scratch, develop a
fundamental understanding of the level, works on all Doom I and II patch
Wads, and creates a level that is playable and winnable.
I am really busy nowadays, I work two software testing jobs. Please call
and leave a message on my answering machine or BBS, or EMAIL me at the
follwing address: bedford@ix.netcom.com if you have any questions
or comments.
I am slowly developing code that will be able to disect wads, and create
new wads from the bits and pieces of old wads, if I get laid off again
maybe I'll have the time.
Special Thanks to the People who have helped me:
Testers
Tim Jordan
Chris Bedford
Brian Murphy
And MiscellANEOUS thanks to those who did not:
SEGA, for laying myself and 30 other dedicated testers off,
because they didn't want to risk paying us benefits, and in
doing so gave me the time to do something wonderful.
One of the testers at the company I work for now created a
cartoon showing Japanese conductors shoving people into a
crowded subway train. The conductors had the name "SEGA Police"
stitched on their arm bands, the caption read "Time for another
Lay-off at SEGA of America".
It's better to rule in Heaven than to serve in Hell!
